Tunnel Vision

Nothing fancy. Just a view of me going under a railroad bridge during my lunch hour break. That's all for today. No time to work on anything. Busy day.

Body Image

In my employment, I work closely with traditional college students and along with this comes their trials and issues they face. Todays photo is my capture of the issues regarding body image and the internal struggles I think all of us have when it comes to this issue.

Experimentation

Todays photo is an experiment using a homemade lens filter applied over the original lens. Interesting how simple you can bend light. The only post adjustments made were to the saturation/hue a tad bit. It's a picture of the vent in my car. Back to the drawing board.

Morning Sun

Todays shot is of the morning sun shining through my plants in the window. These are the same plants that casts the shadow on the wall in the previous posting. I think I'm going to go eat at Denny's today.

Midnight Window Shopping

I admit. It wasn't midnight. But I'll admit that I love shopping. If only I could get on the other side of the window. That's another part of me that officially proclaims I'm 49% gay. At least as defined by cultural stereotypes and my gay friends.

My Apartment

Here's a small little corner of my apartment. He's a nice little corner. I like to call him corner. he likes that. You don't ever want to offend the place you live. That's my advice to all out there. Oh, and yes the artwork on the wall is a piece from my own collection.

Trains

Todays photo is just a train shot. I've been still working on my odd couple challenge. My wife has already stated that she claims no responsibility if something goes wrong while getting the shot. That's all I can say for now. Can't give away the secret.

Fashion

I wish I could have used this for the open fashion challenge but I had to use some additional editing to rid some unwanted glare. Oh well, I've been working on my next photo for the 'odd couple' challenge anyways and I think it will turn out OK. We'll see. Now that I have this blog to work out the rust I want to focus on more quality for the challenges.

Here's my tribute to Willy Wonka. This is the apartment complex where all his oompa loompas live.

Nighttime setting trials

I didn't go for any real subject in this photo. I was just out messing around with different settings of the camera testing out how to do shots at night. I wish I had a better camera so if anyone would like to donate to my 'new camera' fund please send cash/check or money order. :)

Farmland Skyscraper

It was a nice day. Still very cold but sunny. My sister keeps calling and leaving me messages on my voicemail. I really do need to call her. I'm horrible at keeping in touch with my family and old friends. That's one of my personal vices.

Just an egg

Today is one of my lucky days. I've been on emergency call since noon and I won't be off until 5 tomorrow evening. Just a usual part of my life. So all you get today is a quick egg shot.

Lost Penguin

The secret is out. I have this strange thing for penguins and monkeys. Not the kind of strange that lands one in the psych ward. Just the strange kind that gets you those odd stares during the family gatherings. So here I was driving to get some milk and bread. I was passing an elementary school and like many of the schools in this area they have butterfly gardens. Usually they attract my attention more during the season when the flowers are blooming but I thought I saw a penguin. I turned the car around and sure enough, there it was. sitting there next to the bench in the little butterfly garden. I had share this one with everyone.
I think he might be lost.

Valentines Day Box

It all began so simple. A little note from the second grade teacher asking parents to help the kids decorate a shoebox for Valentines Day. I figured we could cut and glue some paper and wellah. My second grader had something else in mind so after the work is all done I thought I would share it with everyone. The cats name is snowball.

Country Home

Here's another country shot. At least from my perspective on how it is to live in the country. I'd love to live closer to the city life myself. I like the feeling of having something around me. Whether it's mountains or buildings it doesn't matter. This open space is beautiful but it's not for me.

Original Shot

Chopper had requested to see the original shot of the yesterdays photo before I got bored and went crazy on it. Here it is. It was cropped. Additional gradient to the sky. Starss added. Color Swap, sepia filter and Wellah.

Snowy Blanket

It snowed again today. Not for very long but the flakes were large enough to captivate my daughters for a bit. I thought the sky looked more like blanket so here it is. I didn't do any adjustments to the photo afterward This shot is the real deal.

Country Barn

I touched a new camera at the store today. Sweeeeeeeet. What kind was it? It doesn't matter. They were all so sweeeeeeeeet compared to what I have now. I thought todays shot is nice but I didn't like it enough for the country life challenge so I added the stars and here you go. I should have gotten closer off the road to get a better shot but it was freezing with the wind and my dedication wasn't enough today.

Last Abstract, I promise

I had to do just one more. In honor of everyone who loves to take the classic abstract photo of the windows in buildings. I'm not making fun of them. Some of them are really beautiful. This one is not one of those beautiful shots but it was something I wanted to duplicate. A tribute if you may. Side note: I scored my highest challenge thus far in the recent free study. Thanks for everyone who has helped me through these learning curve days. I wish I could spend more time commenting on all the challenge entries but my wife would divorce me for having an affair with the computer. I'll keep up the best I can. Wow, I'm still amazed at the art many of my fellow DPCers produce. I pay respects with humble admiration. If you are reading this but not a member of the DPC crew and would like a great place to learn from the Professionals I highly encourage you to join. Off to bed now.

Help. I'm stuck in abstract mode. You see what happens when you start working on a DPChallenge photo.

First Moon Shot

I was out walking today. It was a nice sunny day but still cold. The moon was out so I decided to use it today. This is my official first moon shot.

Wife's little fish

Today my wife asked me to take a picture of one of her fish that she is trying to identify. She likes cychids and man are they quick. It took me forever to get this one and it's still not sharp like I wanted. It provides enough detail for her to send off to some other website where others can identify it but I'm not going to quit. I'll get a good one eventually.

window exploration explanation

Here’s my itch that was only aggravated by the shadow challenge that DP recently had. Shadows of light are generally received as a symbol of fear and the dark unknown lurking beyond the tangible. Reflections of light are generally received as a peaceful expression of harmony. Windows are tools that utilize both expressions of light and are received by us as something to hide ourselves behind or reflect our moments to others. This is the balance that I’m itching to grasp in the perfect photo. So until then, I may use this daily blog to help explore this itch in order to find that moment. Today is not that day that I have found the moment. Only an expression of fear and voyeurism rolled into one shot.

Missed a day. oops

As you may have noticed I missed yesterday. It was a very long day for me. I begun work at 7:30 and didn't get out of my office until 9:00 pm. Exhausting. However, I did get a chance to take a 'developmental' photo but then when I got home my wife was using the computer and my body said there's no way I'm staying awake. So here is my photo for yesterday. It's not meant to be some great work of art. More like a muted beginning to an idea that is rolling about in my head that won't come out all at once but only in pieces. Does anyone else run into this?

Acid Trip

Todays photo is of an electrical panel on acid. I came across it in the dark confines of the tunnels that run beneath the university.
